Enjoy a scenic day out on the green.
Tucked away behind the Settlement between The Lodge and The Basin, Rottnest Island Public Golf Course combines a nine-hole golf course, putting green, bowling green and venue with a pool table, upstairs function space, and indoor and outdoor seating.
Combining relaxing island ambience with a challenging design, the course is a joy to play as it changes subtly with each season. Breezes move from the west to the south and east, and in winter the course’s creeks flow, creating interesting hazards. The tuart trees cast beautiful shadows as the sun dips over the horizon and there are even remnants of an old rifle range used by the Australian Army during the Second World War.
With shady trees and lakes surrounding the fairways and grass greens, and no noise from vehicles thanks to the lack of private cars on the island, the course is peaceful, friendly and informal, but challenging enough to really test your game.
Playing golf on Rottnest is hassle-free. Hire clubs and golf carts from the Clubhouse or, if you’re travelling with a group and prefer to bring your own golf clubs, book ahead to have the team at Rottnest Island Public Golf Course arrange an equipment pick up from the jetty.
